In this week’s Ulan Nutritional System weekly webinar, Hayley Imbriani shared her story of how she became a natural healthcare practitioner and incorporated massage therapy and Nutrition Response Testing in her tools to help people improve their health.

It started when Hayley was considering what career to follow. She tagged along with her Dad to a physical therapy session to see what they did. “While I was there, they showed me around and to my surprise, they offered me a job,” says Hayley. The job was assistant to the practitioner doing Nutrition Response Testing.

“I fell in love with the technique,” says Hayley. “After working with this qualified practitioner for a while, I decided to get trained on how to do it.”  Hayley also studied to get her degree as a massage therapist.

Along the way Hayley learned about acupressure points, how energy travels in the body, and how this affects healing. Although she was getting good results with massage therapy, she saw that it was not permanently addressing the health issues her clients had. “It helped the symptoms, but the relief was not permanent,” explains Hayley.  “I was not finding and addressing the underlying cause of the condition with massage alone. With Nutrition Response Testing I was able to analyze the underlying nutritional deficiencies and determine the nutritional support the body needed, so it could heal itself.”

One of the interesting functions of Nutrition Response Testing is the ability to resolve what is called “blocked regulation,” which means that the body is not communicating well with itself and the body’s ability to heal itself is blocked. Once this blocked regulation is dealt with, other therapies like massage therapy or chiropractic work better than before because the body is now able to heal.

Another indicator Hayley has noticed while doing massage therapy is that when a patient needs nutritional therapy, the body is not pliable – it’s quite stiff and hard to the touch. Hayley has found that a massage therapy session, usually 50 or 60 minutes long, is the perfect time to talk to a client about their nutrition needs. “I use that time to talk to them about their issues and symptoms and how nutrition can help,” she says. “Often, the client needs someone to listen to their concerns and fears.  They feel that the problems they have will never get resolved. Nutrition Response Testing gives them hope that there is a solution.”

Hayley has dealt with some very interesting cases:

One of the most interesting and unusual cases Hayley has dealt with is a patient who complained of what the patient described as “multiple personalities living in her body.” Although Nutrition Response Testing practitioners do not address or claim to resolve mental health issues, Hayley did the standard testing protocol to see if there were any underlying physical or nutritional factors that could be improved.

Multiple studies have found a correlation between a diet high in refined sugars and impaired brain function — and even a worsening of symptoms of mood disorders, such as depression. The field of nutritional psychiatry is finding there are many consequences and correlations between what you eat, how you feel, and how you ultimately behave. Source: Harvard Health.

Hayley put this patient on the nutrition program dictated by her test results and after one month she was already feeling better and commented that some of these other “personalities” had gone away. Now she is delighted and says, “It’s just me in here!”

Nutrition Response Testing Training

Hayley was able to start applying Nutrition Response Testing right from the start.  “After my basic training, I was able to do the testing, but did not feel fully confident,” says Hayley. “So, I went ‘all-in’ and continued on with the program and got fully trained.”

It took her almost two years, but now that she is a fully trained and qualified practitioner, she has learned to handle very difficult conditions and patients.

Since Hayley did the training, the line-up has been improved and streamlined. Much of the curriculum can now be done online with only a few trips to Clearwater, Florida for the necessary in-person training sessions with Dr. Brad Kristiansen. The complete program can be completed in under a year. It covers the clinical aspects of Nutrition Response Testing, Patient Management, and how to run a successful practice.

Future Prospects

Hayley has now advanced to the level of assistant teacher and she is sharing her knowledge with other health practitioners who want to learn this technique. “It’s an honor to be chosen by Ulan Nutritional Systems to teach classes,” says Hayley. “Only those practitioners who have demonstrated an excellent command of the protocol, have had consistent good results with patients, and have a successful practice are considered.”
